DNC Boss: God's In The Way

The path to putting a Democrat in the White House runs through God.

That’s not me saying God favors Republicans.

That’s potty-mouthed DNC Chairman Tom Perez saying God’s faithful disapprove of Tom’s faithful because of Biblical instruction on pesky issues like life and death.

Quoting from Perez’s comments on the clergy, “…that person on the pulpit is saying ‘ignore everything else that this person (Trump) has done and is doing, we have to focus on one issue of Roe v. Wade.’ And people buy it because that’s their only source.”

Perez is at once troubled by Americans who think checks and balances apply to the Judicial Branch and life is a gift from God not to be easily discarded.

Perez is additionally unnerved by churchgoers who lean on spiritual leaders working from western civilization’s source material rather than finding their righteous footing from Sister Maddow’s jeremiads.

The short of it is Tom Perez would like you to stop attending church because it puts a real crimp in the ability of Democrats to make the state your god.

Save Asia Bibi

The most profound action on immigration President Trump can take at present has nothing to do with walls, troops or 9th Circuit pronouncements.

It is to extend religious asylum to a Pakistani woman named Asia Bibi and her family.

Bibi survived eight years in a Pakistani gulag with the prospect of execution hanging over her head like the Sword of Damocles each day.

Her crime: being a Christian.

Since being released she and her family are under constant threat of assassination by the Islamofascists who’ve overrun Pakistan.

In a shameful episode of cowardice, putative peaceful pluralists in the West have turned a deaf ear to Bibi.

The opportunity for Trump to have his Emma Lazarus moment here is as yuge as is the moral imperative.

Provide a tutorial for Trump-haters and the DC press corps (I repeat myself) on the difference between economic migrants and asylum-seekers.

Reward the faith placed in you by the faithful of all faiths by demonstrating you will not abide religious persecution.

Shame the big talkers on multiculturalism now sitting idly by--from America’s Democrat Socialists to Western Europe’s Socialist Democrats to Pope Francis.

Mr. President, save Asia Bibi.

We're Doing It Wrong

Arizona’s Republican Governor Doug Ducey earned 44% of the Latino vote en route to his easy re-election.

No hand recount for Governor-elect Ron DeSantis in Florida who garnered 44% of the Latino vote and 14% of the black vote.

The 400,000 Florida kids and 260,000 Arizona kids who benefit from school choice, the majority from minority families, are reshaping the GOP’s electoral coalitions in those states.

White Guilt author Shelby Steele argues this occurrence is more than a powerful argument for school choice. It’s a messaging imperative for conservatives.

As Steele told me, black families have moved beyond the idealism of the Civil Rights era to search for pragmatic answers to the economic concerns the welfare state not only failed to address but worsened.

By contrast, Champagne Socialists in the leafy suburbs are in search of a moral calling. The “Black Lives Matter” yard sign in the lawn of your local Mayflower descendant should’ve been a tipoff.

Bottom line: we’ve been making the wrong arguments to the wrong constituents.

Fiscal conservatism has limited appeal to the vanguard class as does pantomiming Al Sharpton with minority families.

For the latter, it’s money they lack. For the former, to borrow from James Earl Jones in Field of Dreams, “It’s money they have and peace they lack.”

Suburban Moms

What to do about suburban moms?

The GOP lost suburban women by 19 points in the midterms.

It was well-to-do suburban moms who gave Democrats the House.

Should Republicans shame them as the Left does?

Should Republicans pander to them with the “Hi, my name is Dan. I’m a Republican and I apologize,” approach they’ve been using.

How about eliminating their unique designation.

Political messaging needs to be a succinct with a point.

Here’s mine for suburban moms: other than the special role you have in raising your children, you are not special.

You’re supposed to be a civilizing influence.

Instead you’ve thrown in with the mob pounding on Tucker Carlson’s front door while his wife was locked in her kitchen pantry waiting for police to arrive.

I’m not impressed with your B.A. in Ancient Civilizations from Vassar.

You don’t care about good schools or public safety any more than I do.

You’re not doing any more of Corporal Works of Mercy than I am.

Adhering to Economics 101 axioms doesn’t make me a misogynist.

And I’m not responsible for the man you chose to marry.

Here’s my value proposition for you and every other man and woman, whatever their race, religion, age, education and household income: separate bathrooms and equal protection under the law.

Take it or leave it.

The Midterms Won't Change The Left

Potty-mouthed DNC Chairman Tom Perez said bigotry is on the ballot in the midterm election.

True. But it is the Left’s bigotry.

The most enduring takeaway from this election cycle is that the Left has one and only one solution to every policy challenge: bigot-baiting.

Spin the wheel. Pick an issue.

Advocate for border security by using the very real example of an illegal immigrant cop killer and CNN’s Kate Bolduan calls you a racist.

Defend an individual’s Second Amendment right to self-protection and you’re conspiring with white supremacists and “demonizing Jews,” as former DNC Chairman Howard Dean said of President Trump.

Support voter ID laws to protect every American’s franchise and you’re in the business of preventing poor and black people from voting, said CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin.

Exist as a white man and you’re by definition part of the greatest terror threat facing America, per CNN’s Don Lemon, and are likely to be radicalized to commit a hate-inspired crime by President Trump, according to GQ’s Julia Ioffe.

The Democrat Socialists live at the intersection of vacuous identity politics and mindless rage.

It’s a dangerous neighborhood and a terrible place to locate a country.

The Left's Blame Game

I know there’s nothing new in this world, but the Left’s routine is getting quite old.

Just as the Left contended Sarah Palin’s crosshairs art over digital congressional maps was responsible for the Gabby Giffords shooting, so we’re now told President Trump’s dismissal of the DC press corps as “fake news” and declaration that Don Lemon is the dumbest man on TV is to blame for the bomb delivered to CNN.

“Words matter,” declared CNN President Jeff Zucker.

Mattering is not a synonym for causation.

When a Utah man was indicted earlier this month for sending a threatening, ricin-laced letter to Trump, I don’t recall CNN featuring any roundtable discussions or accusatory chryons suggesting the “Trump is Hitler” crowd was to blame.

When a Bernie Sanders supporter opened fire on congressional Republicans, I don’t remember any suggestion from the Left that Comrade Bernie’s overheated criticisms of Trump as a totalitarian incited the shooting. CNN treated the whole matter more like a local crime story than an attempted political assassination.

What’s the standard for establishing who’s liable for political violence, you ask?

Depends on the target is the DC press corps’ answer.

Words do matter, as CNN’s Zucker said.

And the words offered by human refrigerator magnets impersonating political leaders and the Democrat Party’s comms team masquerading as journalists are precisely what elected Trump and will re-elect him.

Little White Liars

First they came for the “man-size” Kleenex tissue.

It won’t be long before they come for the Manwich—and then the Sloppy Joe entirely.

We don’t like this but we can’t stop it. Why?

80% of Americans oppose so-called “political correctness”, according to British researchers.

Racial minorities dislike it more than whites.

The young don't like it any better than the old.

With such overwhelming opposition, how does it persist?

Because people have assented to things they know to be untrue.

Complicity in the lies eliminates resistance.

The supermajority’s abdication leaves a power vacuum a band of little white liars is happy to fill.

As the British psychiatrist Theodore Dalrymple noted in comparing political correctness to communist propaganda, “To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed.

A society of emasculated liars is easy to control.”

Therein lies the purpose of political correctness: control.

Therein lies the solution: don’t be an emasculated liar.

Stand up for what you know to be true or prepare to live life forever on your knees.

GOP’s National Supermajority Will Help Hold Their Congressional Majorities

The dismal TV drones are missing something important in handicapping the midterms.

They obsess about how narrow are the GOP congressional majorities without considering the supermajorities Republicans enjoy in state houses and governors’ mansions across the country.

That’s called political infrastructure and it matters.

Local political officials and operatives have credibility with voters and thus turnout capacity that can’t be bought with Michael Bloomberg’s millions.

Federal races are not national elections. They’re local ones.

Just as local races can be federalized so can federal races be localized.

Popular Republican governors with Republican legislative majorities matter too.

That’s good news for key Senate and House races in Arizona, Florida, Indiana, Nevada, North Dakota, Tennessee and Texas

The state and local Republicans in these states are popular because they’ve made choices in advance of economic liberty that have improved the vitality of life for their constituents, as a report earlier this year by the American Legislative Exchange Council found.

It’s not complicated.

I suspect voters in these states may elect to continue to keep it simple on November 6th by sticking with what’s working.

The Helpful Senate Democrats

Thank you, Senators Pagliacci Schumer, Quarters Whitehouse, T-Bone Booker, Missing in Action Blumenthal, Hang ‘Em High Hirono, Clammy Coons, Methuselah Feinstein, Kamala the Congenial and Sack of Durbin.

You’ve provided much needed clarity.

We now know the Left’s definition of “being mean”.

It is not mean to attack a GOP senator on his front lawn and put him in the hospital.

It is not mean to berate conservatives in restaurants, in front of elevators and in other public places.

It is not mean to call a conservative judge a rapist without basis and to lampoon the pre-adolescent child of said judge in a political cartoon.

It is mean to challenge the credibility of a woman who has made an allegation regardless of evidentiary support.

We now also know the Left’s definition of justice.

A conservative, white, Christian man is not to defend himself against allegations made by a woman.

A conservative, white, Christian man should not be afforded the presumption of innocence, the legal standard and cultural norm of a free society.

Only liberal judges like Ruth Bader Ginsburg can make partisan statements—labeling Trump a “faker” and calling on him to release his tax returns—and maintain their impartiality.

This has been immensely helpful, Senators. You’ve given Americans a lot to think about it in advance of November 6th.

Establishment Republicans Mugged By Reality

Once again the U.S. Senate has distinguished itself as the world’s greatest deliberative body and vanguard of the Republic by putting high school yearbook committees across the country on notice.

Dennis Miller’s long ago formulation of Congress as a bunch of “mediocre intellects Earl Scheib-ed into looking somewhat consequential” has never been more clearly illustrated than by the current Senate Judiciary Committee.

My question is for establishment Republicans who were bailed out by Brett Kavanaugh and Sen. Lindsey Graham, two establishment Republicans recently mugged by the reality of the Left themselves: Does the Shakespearean farce you witnessed clarify things for you?

Do you now understand what you’re up against?

Will you now turn a deaf ear to the Left’s Siren songs?

Do you now realize that whether it’s the Supreme Court, Russian collusion, or tax cuts, the Left entices you with talk of common ground only to carpet bomb you as soon as you step onto it?

You should find it instructive when three former state attorneys general—Sens. Harris, Blumenthal and Whitehouse—discard the presumptions of the American justice system and thus the rule of law because they can.

Now you should locate your backbones.

You should define the stakes and bring the fight.

Brett Kavanaugh picked up the first round. November 6th is on you.

The Challenge Of Reason In Unreasonable Times

Chesterton observed that, “He who has gotten used to unreason is ready for unkindness.”

The Left’s big bet is a majority of Americans are not only ready for unkindness, they demand it.

The more brutal, the more devoid of merit, the better as the horde feeds on frenzy not reflection.

This is on full display as the Left sets aside any semblance of reason, concern for evidence, or respect for due process in pursuit of turning Brett Kavanaugh from Opie into Chucky in the public’s mind.

Unreason.

Connecticut Sen. Dick “Missing in Action” Blumenthal contends that confirming Kavanaugh would be an irreparable stain on SCOTUS from which it could not recover. Not Dred Scott. Not Korematsu v. U.S. Brett Kavanaugh.

Unkindess.

Hawaii Sen. Mazie Hirono says all the men of America should shut up and do the right thing for once. To be fair, Mazie didn’t really mean all the men of America just the white, Christian men not of the Left, as her colleagues made clear.

This is not simply a matter of overzealous #MeToo minders as their lack of interest in Keith Ellison’s case illustrates.

This is the prosecution of a culture war by aspiring autocrats who deify themselves and vilify nonbelievers.

They will create heaven on earth no matter how many political, professional or actual graveyards they have to dig.

The Obama's 2020 Netflix Lineup

The Obama’s 2020 Netflix Lineup

Producing quality agitprop is a team effort.

So it’s nice to see the Democrat Socialists rally for the Obamas to help them consummate their $50 million Netflix production deal.

The lineup really assembles itself:

Cory Booker will star in a remake of Spartacus. Only this time, Spartacus is the wealthy senator and he only thinks he’s a slave.  He runs around Capitol Hill yelling, “I am Spartacus,” with no one else echoing the sentiment.

Kamala Harris will play the lead in the spinoff, How to Get Away with Murdering the Legal Canons. The ripped-from-the-headlines season premiere will feature a bizarre temper tantrum masquerading as an interrogation of a SCOTUS nominee.

Rahm Emanuel is scheduled to reprise the role of Abby Lee Miller from the Lifetime hit, Dance Moms. The Emanuel version will be entitled Tiny Dancer Moms.

Chris & Andrew Cuomo will play conjoined twins in the long-awaited sequel to Stuck on You.

Other shows under consideration:

Brian Williams as a bomb tech in a remake of The Hurt Locker.

Rachel Maddow as K.D. Lang in the biopic, Crying.

And Elizabeth Warren as Henry Fonda playing Tom Joad in a stirring interpretation of John Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

It’s a lineup that’s binge-and-purge worthy.

Tell Me About The Rabbits, Blase

“The Pope has a bigger agenda. He's got to get on with other things, of talking about the environment and protecting migrants and carrying on the work of the church. We're not going to go down a rabbit hole on this.”

Those were the words of Cardinal Blase Cupich of the Archdiocese of Chicago in the wake of credible accusations that Pope Francis had guilty knowledge of sexual misconduct within his inner circle and did nothing.

The Pope’s response to the assertion he did nothing is to say nothing.

The Cupich and Francis responses are telling in their familiar ring.

Both are ideological.

Cupich’s flacking is of the Weinstein variety: my work is too important to indulge distractions about my behavior.

Pope Francis’ imperious silence makes it clear he doesn’t answer to you.

The posturing of these two is more contrived than Jimmy Swaggart’s “I have sinned” sobbing.

Francis and Cupich are conducting themselves like politicians in damage control to protect their personal ambitions rather than as faith leaders tending to a wounded flock to protect the Church.

Cupich’s misdirection and Francis’ silence aren’t going to fly.

Nothing short of a complete accounting and a full reckoning for the horrors that were unleashed and excused inside the Catholic Church is acceptable.

Educating Politicians

It’s that time of year again.

Politicians are on your TV screen and in your mailbox inundating with you promises they don’t intend to keep. While, under the influence of their misplaced faith in magical words, the kids head back to college to accrue debt they’ll finance into their 40's.

Comrade Bernie & The Socialists have re-released their Siren song of tuition-free college.

They’ll make college debt disappear much like Bernie’s dutiful wife Jane made an entire college disappear.

Of course, that debt will reappear in the form of increased government taking from you to finance schools your children didn’t attend and pensions you won’t receive.

The Socialists are offering a free lunch with you on the menu.

Make your own lunch.

Not only should you send your kid to a school that promotes free markets, you should apply the fundamental tenet to the financing: work.

One way is through income-share agreements like Purdue University’s “Back a Boiler” program, where a student’s education is paid for up front and paid back through an agreed upon percentage of his post-graduate income over a defined term.

This aligns the interests and the responsibilities of both the student and university: both want the students to get good-paying jobs at companies or in sectors with upward mobility.

Let’s make financing a college education a teachable moment for the students and the politicians.

A Look At The Left

Here’s one week’s worth of Leftist intellectual offerings:

  • Former CIA Director John Brennan, whose value as an Intel officer closely rivals Chuck Barris’ value as a CIA assassin, argued the revocation of his ability to leak classified information was some sort of unconstitutional abridgement of his free speech rights. Brennan was barking on MSNBC and opining  in the New York Times that he is being silenced.

  • Elizabeth Warren proposed to save capitalism by nationalizing private property.

  • Three hundred and fifty newspapers colluded to publish the same anti-Trump ransom letter to their readers to prove what well-adjusted, independent-minded journalists they are.

  • New York Governor Andy Cuomo announced that America will be great for the first time if and only if he is either elected President or bumps his brother Chris in CNN’s primetime lineup.

  • And of all the cake shops in all the world, a trans person walked into Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado because, SCOTUS ruling notwithstanding, the Left and their government commissars will make Jack Phillips - and every other Christian in America they can target - choose between his faith and his business.

The Left is impervious to irony, unbounded by hypocrisy, undaunted by legal restraint, and unyielding in their quest for dominion over every aspect of your life.

And that’s just in the last week.

White Liberal Savagery

Made infamous by the Time-Life books “Old West” ads, outlaw John Wesley Hardin was so mean he once shot a man just for snoring.

In Chicago, the streets are so mean that Earl Young was murdered because his dog peed on a neighbor’s porch.

Chicago sent a black man to the Oval Office, but what the city is really good at is sending young black men to either prison or the morgue.

47% of black men aged 20-24 are neither in school nor employed.

The response from Chicago hustlers to these realities is to indulge fantasies: more money for job training pantomimes, new anti-violence patronage plantations, a DOJ consent decree to monitor police gender pronoun usage and the reopening of schools no one attends.

Congressman Danny Davis, one of Chicago’s elder dependency dealers, can’t explain how redundant programming would’ve saved his 15-year-old grandson murdered two years ago for his gym shoes.

Chicago has the nation’s highest black unemployment rate. But the white liberals in charge for the past century can’t explain why that isn’t a long enough probationary period to make a performance evaluation.

More than anything, Chicago is the fullest expression of the Champagne Socialism—segregation and savagery—espoused by the American white liberal.

When it comes to barbarism, John Wesley Hardin had nothing on white liberals in Chicago.

Labeling The DC Press Corps

Sarah Sanders refused to oblige CNN’s Jim Acosta’s demand to remove the “enemy of the people” moniker President Trump has bestowed upon the DC press corps.

I guess the Secret Service protection Sanders now requires amid the calls from that same press corps’ fellow travelers to subject her to a lifetime of public harassment has Sanders not particularly interested in what Acosta thinks he deserves.

Is the DC press corps a protector of the people? Is it a professional Fourth Estate acting as a check on the ruling class? Those descriptions don’t seem to fit either, do they?

Not all the members of the DC press corps are enemies to all of the people.

But the great majority are devotees of every big government gambit launched since the New Deal.

They cheer the economically illiterate agitprop of a millennial bartender and the communist virtue-signaling of a backup quarterback.

They want to force men into your daughter’s locker room, Howard Zinn into her classroom, and religion out of her life.

They call for our discourse to be elevated while welcoming a racist simp to the New York Times editorial board.

They champion policies and policymakers who oppose free minds and interfere in free markets.

Maybe the word to describe such people is not “enemy” but I know it’s not “friend” either.

Trump Is Winning Ugly

What a contrast, right?

At the same time President Trump was stumbling through his post-game presser with Putin which necessitated a next-day contraction retraction, former President Obama was in South Africa treating the world to his soaring rhetoric thereby reminding us how good we had it.

That’s the DC press corps’ version of events.

Unfortunately for Democrats, Obama’s tawdry sentimentality and Life’s Little Instruction Book maxims hold up about as well over time as do his policies.

Obama got away with congenial disdain for the Bible-and-gun clingers but his political progeny—not to mention his administration’s apparatchiks—are not nearly as adroit.

Obama’s veiled invective is weak tea compared to his former CIA Director’s call for a firing squad.

Obama’s cliché-ridden claptrap lacks the appeal of Adam Schiff’s Manchurian Candidate conspiracy theories or a Business Insider deep dive on bugging soccer balls.

Obama served as a veneer for the Left’s ugliness.

Trump has unleashed it and marginalized Obama as a political asset in the process.

Now Trump leads the Left’s parade of horribles around by their P-hats in full public view.

It’s messy. And Trump is sloppy. But, like the 1983 Chicago White Sox, Trump is Winning Ugly.

America Owes Two Illinoisans A “Thank You”

You’re welcome, America.

That’s not a statement a resident of Illinois gets to make very often with sincerity.

But the nation owes a debt of gratitude to two Illinoisans who advanced the cause of liberty for millions more Americans through their courage to dissent.

Pam Harris and Mark Janus are their names.

Pam is the mother of a young man with developmental disabilities who resisted SEIU’s attempt to force parents of children with disabilities into its union, literally pitting parents against their children.

Pam took her case all the way to the Supreme Court which ruled in her favor in 2014.

That set the table for Mark Janus, a child support specialist for the State of Illinois, who challenged his forced membership in and financing of AFSCME.

Mark took his case all the way to the Supreme Court which ruled in his favor in June.

Without Harris there would’ve been no Janus.

Without Janus, public sector workers in 22 states would still be second-class citizens with respect to their First Amendment rights.

Courage begets courage.

As I know them both, I can tell you what they would say about the history they’ve made: Don’t worry about remembering our names. Focus instead on emulating our example.

From The Noble Lie To Ignoble Truths

I don’t think Plato had former CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden’s tweet comparing Trump immigration policy to the Birkenau death camp at Auschwitz in mind when he conceived of the noble lie.

Nor would Plato likely place under the noble lie header the DC press corps’ magical storytelling about a 2-year-old Time magazine cover girl who was separated from her father in Honduras by her mother but never separated from her mother by border patrol or anyone named Trump, not even Peter Fonda’s nemesis, Barron.

Noblesse oblige no more.

The lies told by elites these days are intended to foment social unrest not cohesion.

The ignoble truth is that today’s elites cover their tracks by feeding the public supersized whoppers to stunt their appetites for edifying information and dull their attention spans.

Never mind that the fix was in at FBI. See Trump’s criticism of Comey, et al., as a veiled predicate to martial law.

Never mind that family separation was not new policy at the border and that only the enforcement of it was new. Instead, understand this as an existential battle not for border security but against bigotry.

In other news, Paul Manafort has pled guilty to a violent crime for which he was not charged. ABC News reporting.
