Introducing the bill, Senator Daniel Biss said, “This is a bill who’s time has come…” Not really. The Governor, a businessman who understands the impact of a minimum wage, will certainly veto. If there was ever a time to pass a minimum wage bill, it was some point over the past four years. Then, Democrats held veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate. So, why would Senator Biss wait until he was running for Governor to champion a minimum wage hike?
